Spring Break - it's right up there Winter/Christmas Break and the worse - Summer break. At least it's only a week long, but Dear Lord....
Now, don't get me wrong, I love my children. They are my life. But keeping them busy during these times is worse than going to the dentist and having a filling (notice I didn't say root canal..). Is it so wrong that you tell them "No, you can't have a sleepover, again"? The fact that they have had friends sleeping over practically every night completely eludes them, and also the fact you are now feeding all the neighborhood children all week too because you are now the "cool mom" eludes them also. I do work, I don't have spring break, and that too seems to baffle them.
"Like, yeah Mom, we don't have to get up, so what's the big deal?"
The big deal is I do! I don't appreciate being woken up at 3 am by a gaggle of laughing girls, and or the sounds of automatic weapons from my sons Black Ops games - yeah the second one can be a bit scary, esp when he has it on the surround sound, lol!
So, what's my advice? How do I handle it? Well, I start with a cork screw, then a bottle of wine (any color or flavor will work), pop the top and pour a glass about half way. Be sure not to fill your glass up, wine goes quickly, if you fill your glass you will have less glasses to sip upon. Then the most final and best step - sip, smile and say "Yeah sure, whatever". By the time you go to bed, the wine will be gone, and you won't hear any sounds....
And, your still the "Cool Mom" :)
